CREATIVE STRATEGY & MEDIA SYSTEMS FOR IMMERSIVE SIMULATION

Milsim West is an experiential simulation platform built around extended, scenario-driven events that blend physical participation, narrative structure, and emergent gameplay. Its events are uniquely demanding within the U.S. simulation landscape, requiring participants to remain fully in-field for up to 40 continuous hours while operating inside a persistent, evolving scenario.

My role spanned creative strategy, social execution, and experience design - shaping how these events were documented, communicated, and understood both during and after execution. This included developing narrative frameworks and media systems capable of operating alongside live gameplay without interfering with participant immersion.

Unlike conventional event coverage, MSW required working inside a continuously unfolding simulation environment, where physical exertion, decision-making, and narrative consequence intersected in real time. Capturing this required an approach that prioritized authenticity and clarity while respecting the intensity and integrity of the experience itself.

Effective communication demanded systems that could translate complex, in-field dynamics into coherent storytelling across digital platforms - extending engagement beyond the events themselves, supporting platform growth, and reinforcing MSW’s position as a leading experiential simulation platform, while remaining accessible to external audiences, partners, and press.

in the field

These events are not designed to glorify conflict, but to explore teamwork, decision-making, and endurance within a shared, immersive world.

Participants navigate uncertainty, coordination, and consequence under pressure - emphasizing collaboration and systems-thinking over spectacle.

My responsibility was to translate these experiences for an external audience - preserving their integrity while making them understandable, credible, and worth engaging with.

PRESS AND PARTNERSHIPS

Supporting Milsim West’s public-facing identity included facilitating national media coverage and brand partnerships that placed the platform under external editorial and commercial scrutiny.

This work supported feature reporting by Vice News and The New York Times, as well as an ongoing partnership with Outdoor Research — each requiring a disciplined approach to how the platform was represented, contextualized, and understood outside the participant community.

My role was to ensure these engagements accurately reflected the intent, structure, and experiential depth of MSW’s events, enabling journalists and partners to engage with the work without flattening, sensationalizing, or mischaracterizing it.
